Materials:
1. 8x10 headshot picture of choice
2. Various colors of play-dough or clay
3. Washable markers
4. Sheet protectors or large Ziplock baggies

Young Toddlers:
You can try to implement play-dough with a younger toddler, but if they are still very oral, I would skip the play-dough and opt for washable markers for them to color on their picture. You can introduce the larger facial parts such as; eyes, nose, and mouth. While they are coloring, ask them to find these parts.
Preschooler or older:
At this age, there is more variety in how they can decorate their picture. They can make intricate details out of the play-dough to represent their eyebrows, hair, lips etc. You can allow them to mix play-dough and markers within one picture, or you can have one picture for play-dough and one picture drawing with markers. Being able to color and mark up photos is a fun way to combine art, creativity, fine motor and imagination all in one project.
